Brandon Vuolo edged classmate
Luis Rivera's record in the shot put with a mark of 13.55 meters (44 ft., 5 1/2 in.). Vuolo placed sixth in the event. Rivera's previous record was 13.52 meters (44 ft., 4 1/4 in.). In the women's meet, senior
Hannah Brackley took first in 400-meter dash with a time of :58.61, and she was second in the 200-meter dash with a time of :26.42. Both times were roughly a second off her respective school records, which she set in 2013.
In the women's meet, Nazareth finished fourth with 60 total points. Taylor recorded 113 points to edge Emory, who finished with 112. Columbus St. was third with 72.5 points.
In field events, senior
Sibongile Chisi was sixth in the pole vault with a mark of 2.92 meters (9 ft., 7 in.), and junior
Amanda Entress was seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 10.23 meters (33 ft., 6 3/4 in.)
Senior
Michaela Gildemeyer took fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:18.6. In addition to Brackley's performance in the 200, junior
Taylor Pierson was 12th (:27.26) in the event, and freshman
Sarah Williams was 24th (:29.20). In the 400-meter dash, freshman
Samantha Goble was 14th with a time of 1:03.14. Sophomore
Emily Thompson was 16th in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 19:24.25, and freshman
Kimmy Lovett was 23rd in the unseeded 1,500-meter run with a time of 5:08.19.
The Golden Flyers' relays were also successful. Nazareth's 4 x 400-meter team was fourth. Goble, Gildemeyer, Williams, and Brackley finished with a time of 4:08.72. The 4 x 100-meter relay team, consisting of Chisi, Pierson, Entress, and Williams, placed eighth with a time of :51.12.
In the men's meet, the Golden Flyers placed 10th with 22 points. Emory claimed first with 149 points. Marian and Taylor finished second and third with 128.5 points and 82 points, respectively.
In addition to Vuolo's performance in the shot put, he was 16th in the discus with a throw of 39.56 meters (129 ft., 9 in.). He just missed breaking the school record, which is 39.81 meters (130 ft., 7 in.). Rivera also competed and finished 20th with a mark of 35.87 meters (117 ft., 8 in.). Junior
Khiary Gayle claimed fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 13.24 meters (43 ft., 5 1/4 in.). He holds the school record at 13.57 meters (44 ft., 6 1/4 in.).
Freshman
Nick LaBarbera placed third in the 400-meter dash with a time of :50.31. Junior
Tom Sippie also competed in the event. He was 27th with a time of :53.55. Sippie is recovery from an injury he suffered during the indoor season. In the 200 event, LaBarbera was 16th with a time of :23.96.
In the 800-meter run, sophomore
Matt Battaglia was 20th with a time of 2:04.6, and freshman
Martin Dearaway was 32nd with a time of 2:11.06. Battaglia was 25th overall in the 1,500-meter run. His time was 4:18.99. Freshman
Kevin Witt was 33rd overall in the event with a time of 4:24.95.
The Golden Flyers are in action again on April 4th when they travel to the University of Rochester. Nazareth hosts the Nazareth/Roc City Classic on April 11th.
