Biography

11275Business Administration major... born 3/2/94... son of Miguel Rivera, Rochester, N.Y... returning for his third season, Rivera was outstanding for the Golden Flyers during the 2015 indoor season as he earned All-American honors in the 35-pound weight throw with a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Division III Championships in Winston-Salem, N.C... broke his own school record six times, finishing at 19.29 meters (63 feet, 3 1/2 inches)... finished first at the Empire 8 meet in the weight throw at Houghton and second at the NYSCTC meet at RIT... named E8 co-Field Athlete of the Year... twice honored as E8 Field Athlete of the Week (1/19/15 and 3/9/15).

2014: Rivera continued to excel for the Golden Flyers during the indoor and outdoor seasons... won the Empire 8 outdoor title in the hammer throw with a heave of 44.42 meters (145 feet, 9 inches)... set school records later in the spring in the hammer (50.75 meters or 166 feet, 6 inches) and the discus (39.81 meters or 130 feet, 7 inches)... named E8 Field Athlete of the Week for 4/7/14... also enjoyed a strong indoor season that included a school record in the 35-pound weight throw with a distance of 16.24 meters (53 feet, 3 1/2 inches)... that distance earned him second place in the NYSCTC meet at St. Lawrence... won the Empire 8 Conference title with a distance of 14.42 meters (47 feet, 3 3/4 inches)... had a personal best of 11.01 meters (36 feet, 1 1/2 inches) in the shot put... twice named E8 Field Athlete of the Week (for 12/16/03 and 3/3/14).

2013: performed well for the Golden Flyers as he reached 12.53 meters (41 feet, 1 1/2 inches) in the weight throw at RIT on 2/15/13 and 41.84 meters (137 feet, 3 1/4 inches) in the hammer throw at St. Lawrence on 5/3/13... had a throw of 35.29 meters (115 feet, 9 inches) in the discus to earned second-team Empire 8 Conference all-star honors during the outdoor season.

Scholastic: a graduate of James Monroe High School, Rivera played football there... served as high school class valedictorian and president of National Honor Society... recipient of Alberta Moss Scholarship.
