Brackley breaks record at Fisher

PITTSFORD, N.Y. -- Sophomore Hannah Brackley broke her own school record Saturday at St. John Fisher as she won the 400-meter dash at the Cardinal Invitational for men's and women's track and field.

Brackley wasn't the only record-breaker Saturday. Sophomore Sibongile Chisi broke her own mark in the pole vault with a height of 2.95 meters (9 feet, 8 inches) and senior Keaghlan Morrissey broke a five-year-old record in the 400-meter hurdles with a third-place time of 1:05.90. In addition, freshman Taylor Pierson equaled her school record in the long jump with a distance of 5.63 meters (18 feet, 5 3/4 inches).

Nazareth also won the 400-meter relay with the foursome of Brackley, Pierson, Chisi and Morrissey and a time of :49.87. Other noteworthy performances included a third-place finish for senior Lauren Jamieson in the 1,500-meter run with a personal-best time of 4:54.07; a second-place finish for Pierson in the 200-meter dash with a personal-best time of :25.84; an eighth-place finish for Kelsey Mash in the 800-meter run (2:23.23); an eighth-place finish for Katie Wyant in the 400-meter dash (1:02.25); and a fourth-place finish for Bethany Althaus in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (12:34.11).

In the men's meet, Philip Schierer placed sixth in the 400-meter dash with a time of :51.16. Matt Fedrizzi was 14th in the 5,000-meter run (16:35.94) and Jeff Green was 10th in the pole vault by clearing 3.75 meters (12 feet, 3 3/4 inches). Freshman Khiary Gayle was eighth in the triple jump at 13.05 meters (42 feet, 9 3/4 inches).

Freshman Luis Rivera broke his own school record in the hammer throw with a heave of 40.98 meters (134 feet, 5 1/4 inches). Freshman Brandon Vuolo also bettered his own school record in the shot put with a toss of 12.69 meters (41 feet, 7 1/2 inches). He also was 11th in the discus with a distance of 118 feet, 11 inches.
