Nazareth College Athletics

Legal Studies major... born 5/19/96... son of Ron and Sandy Battaglia, Amherst, N.Y... returning for his fourth season, enjoyed a strong season in 2016-17 as he was part of school records in both the 400 free and 800 free relays with times of 3:11.47 and 7:02.37 respectively... team finished sixth in the 400 and third in the 800 at the UNYSCSCA/Empire 8 Conference meet... also finished eighth in the 200 medley relay (1:36.54), eighth in the 400 medley relay (3:32.39), ninth in the 500 freestyle (4:42.24), 11th in the 1,650 freestyle (16:52.75) and 11th in the 200 freestyle (1:45.16) at the conference meet... part of school records in the 200-meter free relay (1:40.60), the 200-meter medley relay (1:50.36) and the 400-meter medley relay (4:04.30).

2015-16: Battaglia broke all three of his distance freestyle school records in with times of 4:41.73 in the 500 free, 9:51.63 in the 1,000 free and 16:25.46 in the 1,650 free... recipient of the Golden Flyer Award as the team's Most Improved Swimmer... placed fifth in the 1,650 freestyle at the UNYSCSCA/Empire 8 Conference meet... also ninth in the 500 free and 11th in the 200 butterfly (1:58.30)... swam in the 800 free relay that finished fifth in 7:05.16.

2014-15: Battaglia swam well for the Golden Flyers in  as he set school records in three distance freestyle events -- the 500 (4:45.28); the 1,000 (9:59.89) and the 1,650 (16:33.21)... finished sixth in the 1,650-yard freestyle at the UNYSCSA/Empire 8 Conference meet... also 17th in the 200-yard butterfly (2:00.47) and 18th in the 500-yard freestyle.

Scholastic: a graduate of Amherst Central, Battaglia swam there for four seasons and served as team captain as a junior and senior... twice placed first in the 500-yard freestyle at the Erie County Interscholastic Conference championships and finished second in that event at the Section Six championships in 2014... also swam six years for the Buffalo Area Aquatic Club... recipient of Joe Martinez Memorial Scholarship.
