: a graduate of Palmyra-Macedon High School, Piva was a four-year member of the swim team there and also competed in cross country and track and field... specialized in the butterfly in swimming, breaking the school record in the 100 fly by more than a second... also swam as part of the school record-breaking 200 medley relay team... won Finger Lakes League title in the 100 fly and placed second in the 200 free... recipient of scholar-athlete award for four straight years.
