HOBOKEN, N.J. -- Host Stevens used a five-goal flurry late in the first half to secure the lead for good as the Ducks outscored Nazareth in women's lacrosse, 11-8. The Empire 8 Conference victory enabled Stevens to improve to 9-3 overall and 4-0 in the E8. Nazareth dropped to 5-5 overall and 1-1 in conference games.

Kate Rothrock, was held scoreless for the first time this season. Kyra Bednarski scored four goals and two assists for Stevens.
After falling behind 2-0 in the first 1:20 of action, Nazareth rallied to score four straight goals to take a 4-2 advantage. Charles opened the string with a free-position goal and
Haley DeVona scored just 48 seconds later to tie the score at 2-2. Goals by Martin and Charles followed as the Golden Flyers built momentum.
Stevens then scored the next five goals over an 11-minute stretch to take a 7-4 lead and the Ducks never trailed again. Martin scored unassisted for Nazareth with 1:15 left in the half to break the Stevens scoring run and to bring the Golden Flyers to within 7-5 before halftime.
Charles scored again -- her third goal of the game -- off an assist from Martin in the opening minute of the second half, but the Ducks answered by scoring the next four goals to take a commanding 11-6 advantage with less than 19 minutes left.

Haley DeVona and Martin closed the gap to 11-8, but Nazareth was unable to generate another shot over the final nine minutes of play.
Stevens had edges in shots (27-21), ground balls (21-17) and draw controls (13-8). Each team committed 15 turnovers. Nazareth's
Brianna Rizzari played all 60 minutes in goal and made 11 saves. Stephanie Schnelzer made nine saves for Stevens.
