Box Score l Updated Stats

ITHACA, NY – Host Ithaca broke open a 6-5 game with the final three goals of the first half, cruising to a 18-8 win Saturday over Nazareth at Higgins Field.  The 12th-ranked Bombers outscored the Golden Flyers 12-3 over the final 35:53 to earn the win.

Nazareth drops to 6-6 overall with the loss and 2-2 in Empire 8 play, while Ithaca moves to 11-2 and 6-0, respectively.

The Golden Flyers grabbed an early 2-0 advantage on unassisted goals from Gabbie Charles and Jamie Martin.

Ithaca, however, scored the next five goals over a 13 minute span to take the lead for good.

Martin, who had three goals in the game, notched a free position goal with 6:41 left in the half to draw within 6-5.  Leah Marvin also had a goal to bring Nazareth within striking distance.

All of the Golden Flyers momentum was taken away at the end of the half, as Ithaca battled to score three unanswered goals to open up a 9-5 halftime lead.

Ithaca maintained that momentum coming out of the break, including scoring four goals in just a minutes time, to build a 13-6 lead early in the second.

Following Haley DeVona's goal to start the half, Nazareth went over 10 minutes without finding the net.  Rothrock eventually broke the drought at the 16:48 mark.  She had two goals in the game.

Brianna Rizzari made 11 saves in net for Nazareth.

Nazareth returns to action on Tuesday, hosting Houghton at 4 p.m.
