ITHACA, N.Y. -- Nazareth's men's and women's track and field team were in action Saturday at the Bomber Invitational, hosted at Ithaca's Athletics and Events Center.
In the women's meet, Nazareth placed third in the distance medley relay with a time of 12:52.50 with the group of
Claire Ludington,
Cassie Ellis,
Maria Staehr and
Emily Thompson.
In addition, juniors
Samantha Goble and
Emily Soeder placed eighth in their respective events. Goble ran 2:23.98 in the 800-meter run and Soeder cleared 1.55 meters (5 feet, 1 inch) in the high jump.
Sophomore
Alycia Atwell-Chwazik was 15th in the triple jump with a top leap of 10.09 meters (33 feet, 1 1/4 inches) and
Sarah Williams placed 16th in the 500-meter run (1:25.17).
Junior Nick LaBarbera was among the Golden Flyers' top performers as he won the 200-meter dash with a personal-best indoor time of :22.60, which could rank him among the top 30 sprinters nationally.
Other top efforts included third-place finishes in the 500-meter run and the 35-pound weight throw respectively for senior Matt Battaglia and junior Tyler Hancock. Battaglia posted a time of 1:07.24, while Hancock had a distance of 15.59 meters or 51 feet, 1 3/4 inches.
Nazareth also finished fourth in the distance medley relay (11:25.36) with the foursome of Jack Wessel, Jacob Murray, Jacob Dougall and Nicaso Gristina.
