BROCKPORT, N.Y. – A limited number of Nazareth track and field competitors were in action Saturday at Brockport's Golden Eagle Invitational.
In the women's competition, sophomore
Alycia Atwell-Chwazik finished fourth in the long jump with a personal-best leap of 5.45 meters (17 feet, 10 ¾ inches). Junior
Samantha Goble was second in the 500-meter dash (1:19.46). She was followed by sophomore
Sarah Williams in fourth place (1:23.10) and freshman
Cassie Ellis in fifth place (1:23.93).
Freshman
Maria Staehr was seventh in the 800-meter run (2:30.64) and was chased by sophomore Elieen Shea, who finished 10
th (2:32.42). Junior
Emily Soeder was fifth in the high jump with a height of 1.49 meters (4 feet, 10 ½ inches).
Top performers for the men's team included freshman Nicasio Gristina, who had a career-best time in the mile as he placed seventh in 4:36.85. Sophomore Nick Murad was second in the 500-meter run with a time of 1:08.41 and sophomore Jenoy Merchant finished seventh in the 400-meter dash in :54.25.
