St. Lawrence resultsSTATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Nazareth seniors
Luis Rivera and
Tom Sippie will represent the Golden Flyers next weekend at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships at Grinnell College in Iowa. The Golden Flyers completed their regular season over the weekend with some athletes competing at the ECAC Championship at Staten Island and others competing at the Fast Chance Invitational at St. Lawrence.
Rivera, an All-American both indoors and outdoors in 2015, is the top-ranked qualifier in the 35-pound weight throw with a top distance of 19.97 meters (65 feet, 6 1/4 inches). He reached that distance Feb. 6 at the Bomber Invitational. Rivera finished first in that event Saturday at the ECAC meet with a heave of 19.85 meters (65 feet, 1 1/2 inches). Rivera finished sixth in the weight throw at last year's national meet in Winston-Salem, N.C. He threw 19.29 meters last year.
Sippie, who won the national title in the 400-meter dash while running at Lynchburg in 2014, qualified in that event again with a time of :48.91 posted at the NYSCTC meet at Ithaca Feb. 26. That time ranks him 12th heading into the national meet.
Sippie competed Saturday as the anchor leg of the 4 x 400-meter relay at St. Lawrence. The Golden Flyers set a school record with a second-place time of 3:21.14, but the Golden Flyers fell short of qualifying for the national meet as they rank 34th in that event.
Nick LaBarbera,
Matt Battaglia and
Michael-Jordan Morris also ran in that race.
Other competitors for Nazareth Saturday included sophomore
Samantha Goble, who posted a personal-best time of 2:15.82 in the 800-meter run and ranks 34th nationally in that event; senior

Emily Soeder, who finished 10th in the high jump (1.59 meters) at the ECACs.
Morris finished first at St. Lawrence in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.62 seconds. Sophomore
