Women's resultsITHACA, N.Y. - The Nazareth track and field squad saw two school records fall on Saturday on the men's side at the Ithaca Invitational, with
Luis Rivera breaking his own record in the weight throw and the quartet of
Nick LaBarbera,
Michael-Jordan Morris,
Matt Battaglia and
Tom Sippie knocking off the 4 x 400 mark.
Rivera demolished his own school record in the weight throw, notching a 19.97 meter (65 feet, 1/2 inches) toss, better than his previous mark of 19.29m (63 feet, 3 1/2") set at nationals last season.
LaBarbera, Morris, Battaglia and Sippie set the school record and took first place in the 4 x 200-meter relay in a time of 3:23.74. The previous school record was set last season at the Bomber Invitational (3:24.95).
Tyler Hancock had a solid showing in the weight throw was well for Nazareth, finishing in third place (15.56 meters), while
Brandon Vuolo was seventh (14.29 meters).
Patrick Neureuter ran in the mile in 4:44.52 for a 26
th place finish.
Jacob Murray finished the 800-meter dash in 2:01.71 to take 15
th place.
The busy day for LaBarbera, Morris, Battaglia and Sippie continued with the 4 x 200-meter relay as they earned a third place finish in a school record time of 1:32.51. SUNY Cortland took the top spot in 1:31.61.
On the women's side, Freshman Michaela Traylor had a strong performance in the 400-meter dash, clocking a 1:01.93 to finish in fourth place.
In field action, Amanda Entress was the fourth place finisher at 10.86 meters. Also shining for Nazareth was Emily Soeder in the high jump as she finished in second place at the height of 1.55 meters
Andrea Larnard competed in the 800-meter dash, racing to the finish line in 2:32.63, good for 19
th place.
Nazareth had a trio of runners compete in the one mile run. Claire Ludington placed 20
th (5:44.21), Jamie DiSalvo 22
nd (5:45.44), and Sage Miller 24
th (5:50.50).
Nazareth returns to the track next weekend at Ithaca for the Empire 8 Championship.
