Women's resultsBROCKPORT, N.Y. -- Nazareth's men's and women's track and field teams each produced strong showings Saturday at the Brockport Invitational, which featured a visit from Olympic gold medalist Jen Suhr, who set a world record in the pole vault.
Nazareth's women's team, meanwhile, behind first-place finishes from Michaela Traylor in the 200-meter dash and Emily Soeder in the high jump, finished third in the team standings with 71 points. University of Rochester was first with 130 points and Brockport was second with 109.5.
The men's team also performed well as seniors
Tom Sippie and
Luis Rivera each won individual events as the Golden Flyers earned 50 team points to place sixth in the standings. Brockport won the meet with 97.5 points, followed by Rochester (91), St. John Fisher (74), Ithaca (56), RIT (53) and Nazareth (50).
Suhr, a graduate of Roberts Wesleyan and the reigning Olympic gold medalist who is training for the summer Olympics in Rio, cleared 16 feet, 6 inches to break her own world.
In the men's meet, Sippie posted his best time of the season (:49.48) in winning the 400-meter dash and Rivera had a season-best toss to win the weight throw with 18.86 meters (61 feet, 10 1/2 inches). Rivera is still the top-ranked weight thrower in Division III while Sippie ranks seventh in the 400.

Nick LaBarbera and
Matt Battaglia, who finished second and fourth respectively. LaBarbera's time of :49.98 ranks him 19th nationally, while Battaglia ran a competitve :51.24.
Battaglia also placed second in the 800-meter run (1:58.24), while LaBarbera was seventh in the 200-meter dash (:23.32). Senior
Brandon Vuolo scored points by finishing fifth in the shot put with a school-record heave of 14.22 meters (46 feet, 8 inches) and seventh in the weight throw with 14.68 meters (48 feet, 2 inches). Freshman
Michael-Jordan Morris was seventh in the 60-meter hurdles with a preliminary time of :8.91.
For the Nazareth women's team Traylor blazed to a first-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a winning time of :26.72. She also placed third behind teammate Samantha Goble in the 400-meter dash. Goble was timed in 1:00.72, Traylor in 1:02.00. Soeder won the high jump with a leap of 1.58 meters (5 feet, 2 1/4 inches). Teammate Sara Thomas finished fourth as she cleared 1.53 meters (5 feet, 0 1/4 inches).
Other top performances were turned in by Goble, who also finished second in the 800-meter run (2:18.98); senior Gabrielle LeBihan, who was third in the 3,000-meter run (10:54.15); junior Emily Thompson, who was sixth in the 5,000-meter run (18:50.08); and senior Amanda Entress, who posted personal bests in both the long jump and triple jump. She placed third in the long jump with a leap of 5.20 meters (17 feet, 0 3/4 inches) and fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 10.91 meters (35 feet, 9 1/2 inches).
Other noteables included junior Jamie DiSalvo and sophomore Claire Ludington, who placed 11th and 13th respectively in the 5,000 meters with times of 19:35.90 and 19:40.09. Freshman Alycia Atwell-Chwazik finished fifth in the long jump with a leap of 4.98 meters (16 feet, 4 1/4 inches) and 10th in the triple jump with a leap of 10.07 meters (33 feet, 0 1/2 inches).
