Game 1 | Game 2 | Final statistics
CORTLAND, N.Y. -- Visiting Nazareth closed out its 2013 softball season with a non-conference doubleheader at Cortland. The Golden Flyers lost both games 1-0 and 10-2. Nazareth fell to 7-24 overall, while Cortland improved to 24-14.

Nazareth squandered a strong pitching performance by freshman Danae Wetherbee in the first game as she allowed only an unearned run to the Red Dragons in the third inning and  yielded only six hits. In the third inning, Brianna Barca reached on a fielding error, advanced to third on a passed ball and scored on a single by Jamie Bucci.

Nazareth's best scoring chance came in the third after Kailey Ritch walked and Morgan Ross followed with an infield single. A sacrifice bunt by Maureen Rogers moved up both runners, but they were left stranded after Sarah Cipperly lined out to shortstop and Carly Pike popped out.

In the seventh inning, Meg DeMario doubled with two outs, but Ritch grounded out to end the game. Cortland's Amber Corrigan was the winning pitcher with seven strikeouts.

In the second game, Cortland scored twice in the first and third innings, but Nazareth rallied for two runs in the fifth. Ritch opened the inning with a walk and scored on a double by Ross. One out later, Sarah Cipperly stroked a single to right field to score Ross.

Cortland broke the game open with six runs in te sixth inning to invoke the mercy rule. A grand slam by Lucia Meola was the big blow.

Ross and junior Shauna Bardanis each had two hits for the Golden Flyers.
