NORTH CHILI, N.Y. -- Nazareth resumed its men's and women's track and field seasons Saturday at the Roberts Wesleyan Invitational as a final tune-up for the April 20 Empire 8 Conference meet at Golden Flyer Stadium.
Highlights included a first-place finish for junior
Jake Lafaver in the 400-meter dash with a time of :51.40. Senior
Philip Schierer finished sixth in the same event (:52.79) and junior Zach Lafaver was ninth (:53.54).
Junior
Matt Fedrizzi finished 22nd in the 1,500-meter run (4:24.28) and freshman
Brandon Vuolo was 25th in the hammer throw with a school-record distance of 33.82 meters.
In the women's meet, sophomore
Hannah Brackley and freshman
Taylor Pierson ran 1-2 in the 200-meter dash. Brackley posted a winning time of :26.67, with Pierson close behind in :26.86. The tandem also ran 2-3 in the 100-meter dash with times of :12.75 and :12.90 respectively.
Senior
Keaghlan Morrissey finished third in the 400-meter hurdles (1:10.54) and senior
Lauren Jamieson was seventh in the 800-meter run (2:30.10). Junior
Bethany Althaus was sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (13:03.34) and sophomore
Michaela Gildemeyer finished eighth in the 1,500-meter run (5:07.79).
