ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Nazareth is the host for the Empire 8 Conference men's and women's cross country championships. Saturday's races will be held at Parkview Fairways in Victor. The women's 6-kilometer race starts at 11 p.m., followed by the men's 8-kilometer race at 12 p.m.
There will be a new team champion for both the men's and women's divisions since Ithaca competed for the last time in 2016. The Bombers left to join the Liberty League after winning the E8 title on the women's side the previous 14 seasons. They also won the men's E8 title nine times, including the previous seven. That leaves nine teams competing in each division with Sage joining the mix for the first time in 2017.
"We are excited to be hosting a major conference event so close to our campus," said Nazareth Coach
James Goss. "We're hoping for good weather and a good turnout of spectators."
Nazareth's women's team is led by freshman
Clarissa Hensler, who has been one of the top first-year runners in the conference this season. Senior
Claire Ludington, two weeks removed from being named E8 Athlete of the Week, figures to also be among the Golden Flyers' top competitors.
Nazareth's men's team has just five runners -- freshmen
Michael Brown,
Christopher Celecki,
Devyn Chase and
Zechariah Nower as well as junior
Jack Wessel -- and all will be competing Saturday.

Leone Timing. Live results will be available and split timing and live scoring will be done at 2500m and 5000m for both races.
