Biography
Toxicology major... … son of Jeff and Heidi Wessel, Broadview Heights, Ohio… returning for his fourth season of cross country, Wessel competed for the Golden Flyers in 2017 and placed 25th at the Empire 8 Conference meet with an 8-kilometer time of 29:38.5... season-best time of 28:00.8 came at the Saratoga Invitational on 9/30/17... competed for the Golden Flyers' indoor and outdoor track and field teams and finished 12th in the 1,500-meter run (4:19.93) at the Empire 8 Conference Outdoor Championships... served as Nazareth's representative on the E8 Sportsman of the Year team... ran personal-best time of 4:52.55 in the mile during the indoor season.
2016-17: During the cross country season, Wessel had a top 8k time of 27:44.5 at the NCAA Division III Atlantic Regional meet... during the track and field season, Wessel had personal-bests of 9:53.03 for 3,000 meters, 4:12.12 for 1,500 meters and 2:02.03 for 800 meters... finished eighth in the 1,500-meter run at the E8 Outdoor meet.
2015-16: Wessel ran a season-best 8k time of 28:12.9 to finish 54th at the Empire 8 Championships in 2015 … top 6k time came at the RPI Invitational at Saratoga, where he clocked a 21:50.7 … competed for both the indoor and outdoor seasons … top indoor times were 2:47.59 in the 1,000-meter run, 1:13.78 in the 500, 2:07.47 in the 800... during the outdoor season, clocked a 2:05.23 in the 800 at the Cardinal Classic on 4/30/16... also ran the 1500 in 4:39.35 and the Geneseo Mid-Week Invitational.
Scholastic: a graduate of Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School, Wessel competed there in cross country and track… helped cross country team to Southwestern Conference title in 2014 while earning second-team all-conference honors… also recipient of cross country senior leadership award for 2015… in track, excelled in the 800-meter run and earned all-conference recognition in three events… played CYO basketball and helped team to a state title in 2015… recipient of Tom Ellis CYO Scholarship and Run for Your Life Scholarship.
