Biography
Accounting major... born 6/18/92...son of Carolyn Lafaver, Syracuse, N.Y... returning for his fourth season of track and field, Lafaver is coming off a strong indoor season in which he won the 800-meter run at both the Empire 8 Conference meet (1:58.92) and the ECAC Championships (1:53.69)... was also part of the distance medley relay team that set a school record (10:32.80) at the NYSCTC Championships at St. Lawrence...
2013: Lafaver enjoyed a spectacular season both indoors and outdoors in 2013... named Empire 8 Conference Track Athlete of the Year both indoors and outdoors... won E8 indoor title in the 400-meter dash (:51.56) on 1/26/13 and also captured NYSCTC indoor title in the 800-meter run (1:55.72)... went on to place third at the ECAC Indoor Championships with a career-best time of 1:53.24 in New York City on 3/1/13... set school record in 500-meter dash by placing second (1:06.78) at RIT's Orange and Brown Invitational on 2/15/13... won Empire 8 and NYSCTC titles outdoors and later ran a personal best 1:52.97at Oneonta State Meet on 5/16/13... completed his fourth season of cross country in the fall of 2013 and finished 50th at the E8 Conference Meet with a time of 29:03.8 for 8 kilometers... finished 198th at the NCAA Atlantic Regionals at Letchworth (28:57.1)...
2012: placed third in the 400-meter dash at both the Empire 8 Conference meet (:50.37) and the NYSCTC meet (:50.17) in 2012… also third in the 400 at the E8 Indoor championships (:51.80)… ran for the Golden Flyers' cross country team in the fall and 239th at the NCAA Atlantic Regional meet (30:06.6) at Genesee Valley Park... finished 41st at the Empire 8 Conference meet (29:06.37) at Saratoga State Park.
: Lafaver was one of the Golden Flyers top track performers during both the indoor and outdoor seasons in 2010-11... finished fourth in the 400-meter dash (:51.43) at the NYSCTC Indoor Meet, then seventh in the same event (:50.55) at the NYSCTC Outdoor Meet... competed for the Golden Flyers' cross country team in 2011 and finished 50th at the Empire 8 Conference meet.
2010: competed in all eight of the Golden Flyers’ cross country meets in 2010...finished 59th (25:17—6.4 km) in his first collegiate meet at Colgate, 52nd (22:35—6 km) at the Hamilton Invitational , 17th (23:10—6 km) at Nazareth’s Invitational, 81st (29:56—8 km) at the NYSCTC meet, 53rd (29:31—8 km) at the Empire 8 Conference meet, and 235th (30:16) at the NCAA Atlantic Regionals.
Scholastic: a graduate of West Genesee High School along with twin brother Zach, Lafaver was a fixture on the track and cross country teams there...recipient of Coaches Award and Wildcat Award for outdoor track...won Onondaga League title in 200- and 400-meter dashes in outdoor track in 2010...also won Section Three title in the 400 and was part of the 4 x 400-meter relay team that placed 11th at state meet...indoor season included first-place finish in the 600-meter dash at state meet and a sixth-place finish at nationals in the 4 x 800-meter race...also placed 15th in the 400-meter dash at state outdoor championships in 2009.
