WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -- Nazareth made short work of Clarks Summit and D'Youville Friday in its first two women's volleyball matches at the Lycoming Invitational. It took less than an hour -- 50 minutes to be exact -- for the Golden Flyers to sweeps Clarks Summit by scores of 25-6, 25-12, 25-12. Nazareth later improved to 4-2 by sweeping D'Youville by scores of 25-21, 25-11, 25-18.
Sophomore
Delaney Martin recorded a match-best 11 kills against Clarks Summit and 13 more against D'Youville, marking the second and third double digit kill totals in her career. She had a career-best 14 kills against Alfred in 2016. She had 19 swings against Clarks Summit for an efficient .579 hitting percentage. She hit .379 against D'Youville with two errors in 29 attempts.
Against Clarks Summit, sophomore
Melissa Newcomb added five kills and junior
Kelsey Milligan and freshman
Regan McGwin each had four. Nazareth had a .456 hitting percentage (37-6-68) overall and held Clarks Summit to a negative percentage (11-18-66) at -.106.
Freshman
Jessica Barry totaled 32 assists and two of Nazareth's 12 service aces.
Junior
Madison Joseph combined 10 kills with three aces and 13 digs against D'Youville. Milligan and Newcomb each contributed six kills and Barry had 24 assists. Junior
Celia Cordero had three kills, eight assists and four digs and freshman
Savannah Bothner had nine digs.
Nazareth had 42 kills and just six hitting errors overall for a .383 percentage.
Nazareth plays two matches Saturday -- against host Lycoming at 10 a.m. and Hartwick at 12 p.m.
