Field Hockey Drops E8 Contest At Washington & Jefferson

Washington, Pa – Host Washington & Jefferson used a balanced offensive attack, with four different players finding the back of the net to hand Nazareth a 4-0 defeat Saturday in Empire 8 Conference play.

Nazareth drops to 1-7 overall and 0-2 in conference play with the loss, while the Presidents improve to 4-3 and remain undefeated in the Empire 8 at 3-0.

The Golden Flyers defense held strong in the first half, allowing just one goal on 14 shots. 

Rachel Buyan opened up the scoring 13:47 into the contest.

The Presidents were able to crack the Golden Flyers defense in the second half with three goals.

Over 40 minutes after scoring its first goal, Washington & Jefferson found the back of the net again, scoring on a two-on-one situation.  Jenna Jaworkski connected with Alana Boyd for the goal.

The Presidents scored two more times late in the game, less than two minutes apart to round out the scoring.

Jaworski was on the other end of the goal at 63:50 and Ashley Overton scored her first goal of the game at 65:31.

Kimber Nourse made 14 saves for the Golden Flyers.

Nazareth was outshot 31-2 in the game.

The Golden Flyers will next be in action on Saturday, traveling to East Avenue rival St. John Fisher for an 11 a.m. showdown.
