Battaglia, Murray, LaBarbera compete at last chance meet

PITTSFORD, N.Y. -- Sophomore Alycia Atwell-Chwazik used a personal-best leap to place first in the triple jump Saturday as five Nazareth track and field athletes competed at the Cardinal Last Chance Meet at St. John Fisher.

Atwell-Chwazik jumped 11.26 meters or 36 feet, 11 1/2 inches to win the event by a significant margin. She also finished second in the long jump at 5.30 meters (17 feet, 4 3/4 inches).

Junior Samantha Goble also competed and finished fifth in the 1,500-meter run as she was about one second shy of her personal-best time by running 4:51.69.

For the men's team, senior Matt Battaglia finished third in the 800-meter run with a season-best outdoor time of 1:56.62. Senior Jacob Murray also ran the 800 and finished 10th in 2:07.35. Junior Nick LaBarbera was second in the 200-meter dash in :22.64.
