POUGHKEEPSIE, NY -  Nationally-ranked Stevens ended Nazareth's season on Thursday in the United Volleyball Conference Quarterfinals, 25-18, 25-20, 25-22.  The Golden Flyers were the sixth seed and Stevens the third seed.

Nazareth closes the 2017 season 21-13 overall, while third-ranked Stevens improves to 29-4 on the season.  The Ducks will meet No. 2 NYU in the semifinals on Friday.

In the first set, Stevens broke open a 12-8 advantage to 18-10 to get some breathing room.  Nazareth scored three of the last four points of the set, but it was too little, too late.

The Golden Flyers had their poorest hitting set in the second, with just 10 kills on 32 attempts and six errors (.125).

Tyler Farnung, who had two service aces in the set, gave Nazareth a 14-13 lead.  The stingy Ducks squad eventually gained the lead at 16-15 and never trailed the rest of the set.

Nazareth had its best hitting set in the third, with 12 kills on 20 attempts, to go along with four errors (.267).  Just like the second set, Stevens made a run midway through to overtake the Golden Flyers.  A service error by Stevens Jordan Stuart gave Nazareth at 17-16 lead, its last of the game.

Sam Bittker put together a solid day with a team-high 11 kills (.391) on 23 attempts, with two errors.  Zachary Gillard was also in double-digit kills with 10 (.250).

Kane Wittorff contributed seven kills and a team-high four blocks.

Tom Keisling had 10 digs, while Jake Kemp dished out 28 assists.
