ROCHESTER, NY – William Smith erupted for 11 first-half goals en route to defeating Nazareth 17-10 Friday night in the first-ever women's lacrosse contest held at Pinnacle Athletic Campus in Victor.

Nazareth falls to 0-2 on the season with the loss, while William Smith remains unbeaten at 3-0.

The first half saw the two teams combine for 17 goals, with the Herons taking an 11-6 lead into the break.

With the squads even at 1-1 early on, William Smith scored the next four goals to take a 5-1 lead with 18 minutes remaining in the half.

Nazareth was able to respond with four of the next five goals to shrink the lead to 6-5, following Jamie Martin's second free position goal of the game with 13 minutes to play.

William Smith seized momentum over the final 10 minutes with five goals.

In the second half, Leah Marvin, who missed the majority of the 2016 season due to injury, scored her first goal of the season to make it 13-9 with just over 12 minutes to play.

That margin was the closest Nazareth would come with the Herons tallying four of the last five goals in the game.
