GLENSIDE, Pa. -- Fifteenth-ranked Nazareth won a pair of non-conference volleyball matches Saturday to complete a successful weekend at Arcadia College's Knight Classic. The Golden Flyers, a three-set winner over Arcadia on Friday, scored a four-set win over St. Joseph's College of Long Island Saturday and then swept New Jersey City University to run their overall record to 12-6.
Scores against St. Joseph's were 26-24, 23-25, 25-13, 27-25. Against NJCU it was 25-20, 25-9, 25-18. St. Joseph's is now 5-5, while New Jersey City is 2-6.

Sam Bittker each had 16 kills and sophomore

Gillard had five kills in a closely contested first set that Nazareth led 24-20 before St. Joseph's extended the match by scoring four straight points. The set ended on a pair of St. Joseph attacking errors.
Bittker and Gillard each had five kills in the second set, but St. Joseph's squared the match with a service ace to end the set. Senior
Kane Wittorff produced four of his five kills in the third set as Nazareth dominated by producing a .370 hitting percentage (13-3-27).
Nazareth then totaled 19 kills to win the fourth set -- eight by Bittker -- to clinch the victory. The set was tied at 25-25 before Nazareth scored the final two points on a kill by Bittker and a solo block by Ross.
Against New Jersey City, Nazareth used a balanced attack to formulate a .484 hitting percentage (39-9-62). Ross had nine kills and a pair of blocks and Bittker delivered seven more kills.
Bittker, Ross and Wittorff each had three kills in the opening set, then Nazareth hit a tidy .833 (10-0-12) to dominate the second set. Bittker and senior

The Golden Flyers are on the road again for four matches next weekend. Nazareth travels to Cincinnati to play Milwaukee School of Engineering and Mt. St. Joseph on Friday. They move on to Springfield, Ohio Saturday for matches against Dominican and Wittenberg.
