Hartwick Holds Off Nazareth 1-0

Box l Updated Stats

ROCHESTER, NY – Hartwick's Maria Stalder scored the lone goal of the game with just over 10 minutes remaining Saturday to propel the visiting Hawks over Nazareth 1-0 in Empire 8 action.

With the loss, Nazareth drops to 1-9 overall and 0-4 in conference play, while Hartwick improves to 8-4 and 3-1, respectively.

Neither squad was able to break through in the first half, with Hartwick holding a 14-3 edge in shots.

The Golden Flyers nearly broke through five minutes into the second as Jessica Livesey and Jennifer Hilts had a two-on-one opportunity.  With just the keeper to beat, Livesey sent a pass that jumped over the stick of Hilts and just wide of the net.

Hartwick eventually found the back of the net as Stalder made good on a scrum in front from 8-yards out.  Stalder fired a shot in front in heavy traffic to find the goal.

Nazareth was unable muster a goal for the fourth-straight game.

Hilts and Livesey each tallied two shots for Nazareth.  Emilee Rosenberg was also credited with a shot in the game.

Junior netminder Kimber Nourse finished with 16 saves.

Nazareth returns to action on Sunday, taking on Stevens at 11 a.m.
