ROCHESTER, NY – Hartwick's Maria Stalder scored the lone goal of the game with just over 10 minutes remaining Saturday to propel the visiting Hawks over Nazareth 1-0 in Empire 8 action.
With the loss, Nazareth drops to 1-9 overall and 0-4 in conference play, while Hartwick improves to 8-4 and 3-1, respectively.
Neither squad was able to break through in the first half, with Hartwick holding a 14-3 edge in shots.
The Golden Flyers nearly broke through five minutes into the second as
Jessica Livesey and
Jennifer Hilts had a two-on-one opportunity. With just the keeper to beat, Livesey sent a pass that jumped over the stick of Hilts and just wide of the net.
Hartwick eventually found the back of the net as Stalder made good on a scrum in front from 8-yards out. Stalder fired a shot in front in heavy traffic to find the goal.
Nazareth was unable muster a goal for the fourth-straight game.
Hilts and Livesey each tallied two shots for Nazareth.
Emilee Rosenberg was also credited with a shot in the game.

Kimber Nourse finished with 16 saves.
Nazareth returns to action on Sunday, taking on Stevens at 11 a.m.
