Box Score l Updated Stats

ALFRED, NY – An efficient scoring attack, powered by 22 points from senior Tyler Seelman, propelled Alfred to an 88-69 win over Nazareth Friday night.  It was a long evening for the Golden Flyers as Alfred finished 54 percent from the field (37-for-68).  Nazareth on the other hand, couldn't find an offensive rhythm, going 22-for-72 – a 30 percent field goal percentage.

Nazareth drops to 0-1 in conference play and 6-4 overall, while Alfred improves to 5-6 and 2-0, respectively.

Host Alfred jumped out to a 55-33 lead at the half after shooting a sizzling 70 percent (24-for-34) from the field.  Five of those field goals came from 3-point range.

Brendan Wind, coming off a career high 25 points on Wednesday against Hilbert, drained two free throws four minutes in to cut the Saxons lead to 12-10.

The Saxons expanded upon their lead over the next seven minutes, going on a 14-3 run to seize a 26-13 advantage.

Jake Burgio and Brendan Wind each tallied eight points in the half on a combined 5-for-15.

It was much of the same in the second half for Alfred as it built an 86-53 margin at the five minute mark.  Nazareth was able to close the game on a 16-2 run to shrink the gap.

Tyler Stenglein was held to 15 points (5-for-15) with seven rebounds.  Wind had a similar day shooting (5-for-16) and ended his night with 13 points.

Burgio was also in double figures with 12 points, while Chris Jones poured in nine.

Nazareth returns to the court at 4 p.m. on Saturday, when it will take on Houghton College.
