BROCKPORT, NY – The Nazareth track and field squads registered a total of four event wins Saturday, two on the men's side and two on the women's, at the Brockport Multi and Invitational Saturday.
Emily Thompson won the 3,000 in 10:49.56, while
Emily Soeder won the high jump for the third week in a row at 1.58 meters (5 feet, 2 ¼ inches). Matt Battaglia won the 800 (1:57.14) and the 4 x 400-meter relay of Battaglia, Nick LaBarbera, Edward Ely and Nathaniel Murad took the top spot in 3:25.46 to set the meet record – Nazareth was .04 seconds ahead of Rochester in the relay.
On the women's side,
Megan Menz also had a strong effort in the 3,000 with a time of 11:52.94.
The 4 x400-meter team of
Samantha Goble,
Cassie Ellis,
Sarah Williams and
Maria Staehr were able to run to a third place finish (4:14.48).
Claire Ludington was seventh in the mile (5:33.40), while Ellis was ninth in the 400-meter run (1:03.48).
In field action, Alycia Atwell-Chwazik was eighth in the long jump with a mark of 4.81 meters (15 feet, 9 ½ inches).
For the men, Ely also put together a good race in the 800, coming in third place (1:59.23). The duo of LaBarbera (:49.75) and Murad (52.77) were second and fourth in the 400-meter run, respectively.
In the 3000, Nicasio Gristina was 11
th in 9:44.70. Jack Wessel was close behind for 12
th place (9:53.03).
Tyler Hancock launched a heave of 14.86 meters (48 feet, 9 inches) to place fifth in the weight throw.
Nazareth returns to action on Friday for the Bomber Multi and Invitational.
