ELMIRA, NY – Visiting Nazareth scored the first 10 points and never looked back, downing Elmira 78-45 Tuesday night in Empire 8 action. Junior
Tyler Stenglein led the offense with 24 points on 7-for-11 from the field, while
Brendan Wind went 5-for-11 for 13 points.
Daniel Jacob drained 3-of-5 from 3-point range en route to 13 points.
Nazareth improves to 10-6 overall and 4-3 in Empire 8 play, while Elmira drops to 3-13 and 1-6, respectively.
Wind had four early points, helping the Golden Flyers build the 10-0 lead. Jacob hit his first 3-pointer of the game to push Nazareth's advantage to 22-5 at the 10:55 mark.
Elmira struggled mightily from the floor in the opening half, going 5-for-28 (18 percent). Nazareth held a 38-17 lead at the break.
The Golden Flyers built a lead to as many as 35 in the second half.
Nazareth was an efficient 25-for-50 (50 percent) in the game, while the Soaring Eagles were 14-for-52 (27 percent).
Jake Burgio contributed nine points and six rebounds.

Josh Gillard each had four points.
Nazareth returns to action on Thursday, when it host East Avenue rival St. John Fisher College in the Battle of the Beaks at 8 p.m. The Cardinals defeated Houghton 102-70 Tuesday night to remain a perfect 7-0 in conference play.
