MARCY, N.Y. -- Seventh-ranked Nazareth split a pair of men's volleyball matches Saturday as the Golden Flyers completed day two of the SUNY Poly Invitational. After winning their first four matches of the season, including a five-set triumph over Elms Saturday afternoon, Nazareth lost a three-setter to ninth-ranked Wentworth by scores of 25-21, 25-23, 25-20. Earlier in the day, the Golden Flyers outlasted Elms College in a five-set match. Scores were 25-18, 22-25, 22-25, 25-12, 15-11.
Nazareth is 4-1 overall and travels to Kean, N.J. for a two-day tournament next weekend.
Sophomore
Zachary Gillard led Nazareth in the Wentworth match with nine kill in 15 attempts. Senior
Tom Keisling added seven kills and junior setter
Jake Kemp amassed 25 assists.
Against Elms, senior
Kane Wittorff totaled 10 kills on 12 swings to lead the Golden Flyers and sophomore
Trevor Gooch also had 10 kills on 18 attempts. Gillard delivered nine kills and junior
Sam Bittker had eight.
Other numbers included a career-best 30 assists for sophomore
Tyler Farnung and four kills and 10 digs for Keisling. Freshman Sean Dillon contributed seven blocks and freshman
Luis Vazquez had eight digs and a pair of service aces.
