HOBOKEN, NJ – Seventh-ranked Stevens Institute scored a pair of goals in the first 20 minutes and held on against Nazareth for a 2-1 victory Saturday afternoon. The Ducks remain undefeated at 7-0 and move to 2-0 in conference play, while Nazareth drops to 4-2-2 and 0-1, respectively.
Raba Nassif scored on the Ducks third shot of the game at the 13 minute mark to give the hosts a 1-0 advantage.
Six minutes later, Nassif found the net to push the lead to 2-0. It was Nassif's third multi-goal game this season.
Nazareth managed just three shots in the first half and eight for the game.
The offense eventually broke through for the Golden Flyers in the 57
th minute.
Laura Herman capitalized on a breakdown from the Stevens defense and blasted a shot into the top right corner to cut the lead in half.
Herman, who leads the team with 10 points on three goals and four assists, has now recorded a point in each of the last four games.
Julia Delgatti had a strong opportunity in the 70
th minute, forcing the Ducks goalkeeper to sprawl out for the save.
Allison Dobles made four saves in net.
Nazareth returns to action on Tuesday, traveling to Rochester for a 7 p.m. night game.
