ROCHESTER, NY – The Nazareth track and field squads competed at the St. John Fisher Invitational on Saturday, as
Luis Rivera (hammer throw) and Emily Soeder (high jump) highlighted the day with wins in their respective events. Rivera won the hammer throw in 57.16 meters (187 feet, 6 inches), while Soeder took the high jump at 1.59 meters (5 feet, 2 ½ inches).
On the men's side,
Tom Sippie earned second place in the 200-meter dash, clocking a 22.67.
Nick LaBarbera also ran the 200, finishing in ninth place (22.67).
Brandon Vuolo broke his own school record in the shot put, putting up a mark of 14.24 meters (46 feet, 8 ¾ inches) to earn third place. He also took ninth place in the hammer throw with a toss of 44.65 meters (146 feet, 6 inches).
Michael-Jordan Morris had a stellar race in the 400 hurdles, ripping off a 52.45 place third.
Also competing for the men was
Matt Battaglia who finished sixth in the 400-meter run in a time of 51.26.
For the women, Nazareth placed fourth in the triple jump as Amanda Entress posted a mark of 10.88 meters (35 feet, 8 ½ inches). She also logged 16
th place in the long jump at 4.95 meters (16 feet, 3 inches).
Taylor Smith had a strong showing in the discus, earning fourth place at 28.95 meters (95 feet).
In other field action, Gabrielle Bell placed 17
th in the hammer throw with a heave of 116 feet, 11 inches.
Samantha Goble and Michaela Traylor each turned in seventh place finishes in their respective events. Goble ran a 4:56.30 in the 1500, while Traylor went 1:01.54 in the 400.
Andrea Larnard ran in the 800 (2:32.30), good for 27
th place.
Nazareth returns to action for the NYSCTC Meet this week.
