Results | ROCHESTER, NY – It may have snowed the night before, but the Nazareth track and field squad was out on Monday hosting the Naz/Roc City Classic in the second outdoor meet of the season.
On the men's side,
Michael-Jordan Morris blew away the school record in the 110-meter hurdles, clocking a 15.84 to place second. The previous school record was 17.26 set in 2004. Individually, Morris also finished fifth in the 400 hurdles in a time of 59.20.
The freshman was also a part of the winning 4 x 400 relay squad of
Nick LaBarbera,
Matt Battaglia and
Tom Sippie which came in at an ECAC qualifying time of 3:23.22.
Senior
Luis Rivera headlined the hammer throw with a toss of 55.57 meters.
Brandon Vuolo (44.17 meters) and
Tyler Hancock (41.63 meters) took fourth and eighth place, respectively. Those two individuals also competed in the shot put, with Vuolo throwing 12.81 meters for seventh, and Hancock rattling off a 12.50 meter throw to finish right behind.
Sippie and LaBarbera each qualified for ECACs in the 400-meter dash. Sippie took second place (48.66), while LaBarbera came in third at 49.27.
In other track action, Battaglia ripped off a 1:57.31 in the 800, good for a fifth place finish.
On the women's side, Amanda Entress manufactured the best finish of the day, taking second in the triple jump at 10.76 meters.
The Nazareth 4 x 400 relay team of Michaela Traylor, Andrea Larnard, Sarah Williams and Samantha Goble ran a 4:11.08 to finish second behind St. John Fisher College.
Goble also had a strong showing in the 1500, an event she was competing in for the first time. The sophomore finished fourth in a time of 4:50.67.
Senior Maggie Muzio was the seventh place finisher in the 100-meter dash (13.26), while Jamie DiSalvo was ninth in the 5000 (19:21.56).
Emily Soeder earned a tie for fourth place in the high jump with a mark of 1.47 meters.
Nazareth returns to action on Friday and Saturday for the Moravian College Greyhound Invite.
