ResultsGENESEO, N.Y. -- Nazareth opened its men's and women's outdoor track and field season Wednesday at the Geneseo Early Invitational.
No team scoring was kept, but the Golden Flyers enjoyed several strong performances, including first-place finishes from sophomore
Nick LaBarbera and senior
Luis Rivera in the men's meet and from freshman
Sara Thomas in women's meet.
LaBarbera finished first in the 400-meter dash with a winning time of :50.34. He also finished fourth in the 200-meter dash (:22.50).
Rivera, fresh off a national championship indoor season, won the hammer throw with a heave of 53.51 meters (175 feet, 6 3/4 inches). Teammates
Brandon Vuolo and
Tyler Hancock finished third and fourth respectively with distances of 44.88 meters and 41.17 meters. Vuolo also broke his own school record in the shot put with a distance of 14.20 meters (46 feet, 7 inches), topping his previous mark by about 18 inches.
Freshman
Michael-Jordan Morris also competed and was sixth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:04.22) and eighth in the 110-meter hurdles (:16.93).
In the women's meet, Thomas won the high jump with a height of 1.45 meters (4 feet, 10 inches). Senior
Gabrielle LeBihan finished second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (11:34.51) and sophomore
Samantha Goble was second in the 400-meter dash (1:00.28). Sophomore
Andrea Larnard also ran the 400 and finished fifth in 1:02.40. Sophomore
Claire Ludington was eighth in the 1,500-meter run (5:16.67).
