Updated statsROCHESTER N.Y.— Nazareth opened the home portion of its men's volleyball schedule by sweeping Keuka in three sets in a non-conference match Wednesday at Kidera Gymnasium. The Golden Flyers won by a scores of 25-17, 25-20, 25-23.
Nazareth, ranked fifth nationally, improved to 7-1 overall. Keuka falls to 3-2.
Tim Zyburt led Nazareth with eight kills and five digs on the day.
Grant Levermore added seven kills,
Coulton Every had six and
Zachary Gillard had five.
Jake Kemp finished with 33 assists. Keuka's Connor Hinman had a match-high of 14 kills.
In the first set, Levermore had all seven of his kills off of 10 attempts.
Josh Hieb and Zyburt each had three kills. Kemp dished out 10 assists. The Golden Flyers registered 15 kills overall in the set, with just one hitting error for a .538 percentage.
In the second set, Every had three kills and three blocks. Keuka led 10-8 early in the second set before Nazareth rallied. Nazareth was up 22-20 and went on to score the next three points off of two attack errors and a ball handling error.
Nazareth was off to a slower start in the third set. Trailing 16-15, Nazareth went on to score five straight points to regain the lead. The score remained fairly even for the rest of the match. Keuka tied it up 23-23 before the Golden Flyers went on to score the two final points on kills by Zyburt and Mahan.
Nazareth hit .378 for the match (41-10-82).
Nazareth will be back in action this weekend as they host the Golden Flyer Invitational. Friday the Golden Flyers will host the Hilbert Hawks at 4 p.m. before taking on the D'Youville Spartans at 8 p.m.
