Box Score l Updated Stats
ROCHESTER, NY – Laura Herman tallied four points and Jessica Byrnes and Julia Delgatti had three each as Nazareth cruised to a women's soccer shutout victory, 4-0, over Alfred Tuesday night on the Artificial Turf.  Herman scored two goals while Byrnes and Delgatti each had a goal and an assist.

The Golden Flyers improve to 7-2-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play, while Alfred falls to 7-4 and 1-1, respectively.

After a slow start to contest, Nazareth found the net on its second shot of the game in the 15th minute.  Delgatti took a shot that found that foot of Byrnes at the 6-yard box.  Byrnes collected for a shot to give the Golden Flyers a 1-0 advantage.

Less than three minutes later, the Golden Flyers caught the defense off guard on a quick corner kick.  Byrnes one-timed a shot with the right foot from the corner of the 18 that Laura Herman re-directed past the Saxons goaltender for the 2-0 lead.  Kate Billington was also credited with an assist on the play.

It was 2-0 at the half.

In the second half, Nazareth needed just over a minute to add to its lead.  Nicole Petocchi picked up an assist on a perfectly weighted ball to Herman in behind the defense for a one-time shot to the far post.  Herman has 14 points this season (five goals, four assists), while Byrnes has 10 (four goals, two assists).

The offense kept rolling in the 56th minute as Delgatti scored her seventh of the season.  After her initial shot was blocked off the corner kick, Delgatti converted the next opportunity.  Delgatti now has a team-leading 16 points.

Allison Dobles played 64:52 in net, while Hannah Miller closed out the game.

Nazareth returns to the pitch on Saturday when it will travel to Elmira for a 12 p.m. matchup.
