SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Junior
Julia Delgatti scored the game's only goal in the 58th minute Saturday to lift visiting Nazareth to a 1-0 women's soccer victory over Skidmore in non-conference action.
The game was the regular-season finale for both teams as Nazareth won for the 10th straight time to improve to 14-2-2 overall. It also was the 10th straight shutout win and 14th overall for the Golden Flyers, who extended their shutout streak to 927 minutes. Senior goalkeeper
Brayden Dobles made seven saves for her 12th shutout of the season. She lowered her goals-against average to 0.23 and raised her save percentage to .952, both among the best in Division III. Skidmore dropped to 6-7-2 overall.
Delgatti's goal was her 14th of the season. After a slow start to the season, during which she went scoreless in Nazareth's first five games, Delgatti has scored for Nazareth in 11 of the last 13 games and has 10 goals in the last 10 games.
Saturday's game was evenly contested with Nazareth holding a slight 5-4 edge in first-half shots. The Golden Flyers finally broke through when senior
Michaela Soules dribbled past a defender in the box and fed a pass to Delgatti, who beat Skidmore keeper Alyssa Rollins with a low shot.
Nazareth generated only seven shots overall with Delgatti and
Kate Billington each contributing three.
Next up for Nazareth is a trip to the Empire 8 Conference Tournament next Friday at Stevens. The Golden Flyers have secured to the second seed for the four-team event and will play third-seeded Ithaca in the first round. Hartwick and Stevens will play in the other semifinal with the winners playing again Saturday.
