Field Hockey Falls To Houghton In Season Finale, 4-0

HOUGHTON, NY – The Nazareth field hockey team closed out the 2016 season on Saturday, falling on the road to Houghton College 4-0.

Nazareth finishes the season with a 3-16 mark overall and 1-7 in conference play, while Houghton closes out at 8-9 and 3-5, respectively.

Houghton scored the lone goal of the first half seven minutes in from Kelsie Ashley.

Nazareth trailed 1-0 at the half after failing to generate a shot. 

Houghton added a goal in the 50th minute to increase its lead to 2-0.

The hosts added two late goals, one from Tanya Hatton with less than three minutes to play and the other from Ashley after time expired.

The Highlanders finished the contest with a 27-2 edge in shots.  Jennifer Hilts had both shots for the Golden Flyers. 

Kimber Nourse increased her Nazareth single season record of saves to 271 after making 12 in the loss.  The previous record was 212 set by Kelly Jo Smith in 2000.
