Nazareth defeats Elmira, 3-1 on Senior Day

ROCHESTER, NY - Kristina Back and Jessica Livesey each scored their first goals of the season, the tying and goal-ahead goal, as Nazareth came from behind defeat Elmira College 3-1 on senior day. The Golden Flyers second straight win gives them a 3-12, 1-6 record while Elmira falls to 2-10, 0-6 in the Empire 8.  

Elmira's Katie Carroll scored off an Alison Mariano assist at 5:09 to give the visiting Soaring Eagles the early 1-0 lead. Carroll deflected Mariano's shot in for her second tally of the season.

Senior, Kristina Back, tied the score 1-1 at 9:23 after firing a shot from the top right of the goal circle to beat Elmira goalkeeper Julie Hockenberger to the inside post.

The score remained tied until the second half with Jessica Livesey tallied her first goal of the season at 21:53 to put the Golden Flyers up 2-1. Nazareth kept the offensive pressure on in the second half and Jennifer Hilts scored her team-high seventh goal of the season off a Kelsi Barnholt assist to give the Golden Flyers a two-goal cushion and the 3-1 lead.

Kimber Nourse finished with the game with seven saves for Nazareth while Hockenberger had 11 for the Golden Eagles. Nazareth had a 22-13 advantage in shots and Elmira held the 11-10 edge in penalty corners.

Prior to today's game, Nazareth seniors Kristina Back, Bridget Geary, Kailee Coleman and Maggie Namy were honored. They will play in their final home game of their careers tomorrow October, 16 against St. Lawrence at 2 pm.
