Men's Hoops Handles Elmira, 85-47

ELMIRA, N.Y - The Nazareth College men's basketball squad won its third-straight conference road game in five days, taking down Elmira College 85-47 on Saturday night.  The Golden Flyers were an impressive 58 percent from the field on 30-for-51.

Nazareth has now won four-straight games to improves to 7-5 overall and 3-0 in conference play, while Elmira falls to 2-10 and 0-3, respectively.

Nazareth led from the get-go, scoring the first six points of the game, including a traditional three-point play from Maurice Mills.

Elmira hung around in the first half, only trailing 24-18 at the 11 minute mark.  The Golden Flyers, however, went on a 7-0 run to move ahead 31-18.

Nazareth led by double-digits the rest of the contest and held a 43-27 lead at the half.

Coach Broderick's squad was extremely well balanced throughout the game with six players scoring in double figures. 

Mitch Ford led the Golden Flyers with 17 points on 5-for-11 shooting, while grabbing eight rebounds.

Tyler Stenglein chipped in a career-high 10 assists to go along with 13 points.  Brendan Wind also had a stellar game with 13 points and five assists.

Junior Josh Gillard was 3-of-3 from 3-point land to finish with 11 points.  Mills chipped in 11 points as well.

Daniel Jacob notched a career-high 10 points on a perfect 3-for-3 from the field.

Nazareth begins a three-game home stand on Tuesday when it will host Houghton College at 6 p.m.  Come out to see the unveiling of the new Golden Flyer mascot!
