Box l Updated Stats

ROCHESTER, NY – Tyler Stenglein and Mitch Ford each poured in 23 points as Nazareth cruised to its fifth-straight victory, a 98-78 triumph over visiting Ithaca College Saturday at Kidera Gymnasium.

Nazareth now sits in sole possession of first place in the Empire 8 with a 9-1 record and improves to 13-6 overall.  The Bombers fall to 5-5 in league play and 11-8 in conference play.

Nazareth led for the entire contest, setting the tone right from the start.  Maurice Mills dropped in two free throws at the five minute mark to push the Golden Flyers lead to 19-8.

The largest lead of the half came on a traditional 3-point play from Chris Jones to push the margin to 38-25 at the five minute mark.

Nazareth held a 46-37 halftime lead.

In the second half, Nazareth shot a blistering 60 percent (15-of-25) from the field, along with 95 percent (19-of-20) from the free throw line.

Stenglein, who has scored over 20 points in three of the past four contests, gave Nazareth a 59-39 after converting a basket and the subsequent free throw.

Nazareth opened its largest lead of the game at 74-47 on Mills layup near the midway point, never allowing the Bombers to make a run down the stretch.

Stenglein was 8-of-13 with seven assists in the game.   Ford continued his dominance with his 14th double-double of the season on 9-of-12 shooting with 12 boards.

Mills (4-of-9) and Josh Gillard (4-of-9) each notched 12 points.

The Golden Flyers will return to the court next Saturday at East Avenue rival St. John Fisher for a 2 p.m. tip.
