ROCHESTER, N.Y – Nazareth College dropped a 3-0 men's soccer decision Sunday to King's College (PA) in its second game in as many days for the Doug May Classic. With the loss, Nazareth falls to 0-3 on the season, while King's improves to 2-1.

The Golden Flyers faced some tough defensive assignments early on.  AJ Muoio came up big for Nazareth on the defensive end clearing a header off of the line in the 28th minute to keep the game scoreless.

Goalkeeper Alex McLean, who made seven saves in net for Nazareth, made back-to-back diving saves with 10 minutes remaining in the half.

The visitors were able to gain some momentum going into the break, however, as Kevin Hopkins sent a cross from the flank to Brian Fenster, who cashed in from six yards out with less than two minutes to play.

Nazareth mustered several quality scoring chances in the second half, including a free kick outside of the box from Alessio DiMichele in the 58th minute that was saved by King's keeper Owen Geedey.

In the 61st minute, Nazareth nearly struck again off a corner kick, as Ben Rodney got loose on the far post  but saw his shot sail just over the crossbar.

The Monarchs made it a two-goal cushion in the 73rd minute when Chris Galeano dribbled down the right hand side and slid a shot inside the near post to make it 2-0.

After another tally for King's, Nazareth registered its best opportunity with just eight minutes to play. Muoio sent a pass to the back post where Christopher Rowland used a side volley to send the ball just wide of the frame.

King's finished with a 19-10 advantage in shots and a 9-2 edge in corner kicks.

Nazareth returns to action next weekend at the Plattsburgh Tournament.  The Golden Flyers will square off against Mount Saint Mary at 1 p.m. Saturday and Colby-Sawyer or Plattsburgh at 12/2:30 p.m.
