Updated statsCORTLAND, N.Y. -- Nazareth's field hockey team dropped a 3-0 non-conference decision to host Cortland Wednesday as the Red Dragons scored a pair of first-half goals and one early in the second half.
Cortland had sizeable advantages in shots (19-2) and penalty corners (13-4) and the Golden Flyers' freshman goalie
Kimber Nourse was called upon to make 10 saves. Sophomores
Marisa Walck and
Kelsi Barnholt each were credited with defensive saves.
Maggie Muzio and
Catherine Willard generated the only shots for the Golden Flyers.
Jessica Welsh and Gabby Stein scored for the Red Dragons in the first half and Stein assisted on Brittany Murphy's goal less than three minutes into the second half.
Now 4-5 overall and 2-2 in Empire 8 Conference play, Nazareth resumes its conference slate Saturday with a home game against Houghton at 12 p.m. Cortland improved to 6-2 overall.
