ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Nazareth's cross country teams were back in action Saturday at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational at Roberts Wesleyan. The Golden Flyers' women's team had a strong showing in finishing sixth in the team standings, paced by an 11th-place individual finish by junior Emily Thompson. Nazareth also finished in 15th place in the men's team standings.

Only one Division III school -- Fredonia -- finished in front of Nazareth Saturday. Host Roberts Wesleyan had the lowest team score with 53 points. Fredonia was second with 86, followed by Daemen (104), St. Bonaventure (108), Mercyhurst (125) and Nazareth (128). Twent teams competed overall.

Thompson was Nazareth's best finisher as she ran 18:59.3 for 5 kilometers. Senior Gabrielle LeBihan was next in 16th place (19:10.7), then sophomore Kimmy Lovett in 26th place (19:26.6). Senior Robin Wagner in 34th place (19:40.6) and junior Jamie DiSalvo in 41st place (19:50.0) rounded out the Golden Flyers' top five. Senior Blair Meeson (20:42.2) and freshman Sage Miller (20:51.4) also competed and finished 62nd and 67th respectively. Gabrielle Kennelly of Gannon won the race with a time of 17:51.9

In the men's 8-kilometer race, sophomore Kevin Witt placed 41st and was the Golden Flyers' top individual finisher with a time of 26:59.9. Nazareth totaled 391 team points to finish 15th. Division I Cornell, with four of the top six finishers, won the team title with 25 points. Zack Israel won the race in 25:16.6.

Other Nazareth runners were senior Patrick Neureuter in 64th place (27:45.5), junior Matt Battaglia in 74th place (28:08.5), freshman Jack Wessel in 98th place (28:43.3) and junior Jacob Murray in 114th place (30:18.7). Junior Tommy Lannon in 118th place (30:27.3) and freshman Jaxon Smith in 135th place (32:18.5) also ran.
