Updated statsHOUGHTON, N.Y. -- Nazareth opened the Empire 8 portion of its women's soccer schedule Saturday as the Golden Flyers battled to a 0-0 tie at Houghton. Nazareth is now 5-1-2 overall and 0-0-1 in the Empire 8. Houghton is 4-3-1 overall and 0-1-1 in conference games.
Houghton had a slight 11-7 edge in shots, but Nazareth had a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Junior
Allison Dobles played all 110 minutes in goal and made eight saves to gain credit for her third shutout of the season and 11th of her career. Shawna Sprout was Houghton's goalie and she also played the entire game and had three saves.
After 90 minutes of regulation soccer, Nazareth had a corner kick and shot by
Paige Sullivan that sailed wide in the first overtime. Each team had a shot in the second overtime. Nazareth's came off the foot of
Michaela Soules and was saved by Sprout. Sarah Gabriele had a shot for Houghton that was stopped by Dobles.
Nazareth plays at home Tuesday against the University of Rochester in a non-conference game at 4 p.m.
