ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Rochester Institute of Technology Tigers used back-to-back goals late in the game to rally for a 3-2 victory over host Nazareth on Tuesday night.
With the loss, Nazareth falls to 0-8, while RIT moves to 3-4.
Nazareth took a 2-1 advantage in the 67
th minute.
Kieran McCoy fed a pass to
Ben Rodney, who beat his defender and slid a left footed shot from outside the box into the net.
The lead, however would not last long as the Tigers Gene Sicoli scored just over two minutes later. Shortly after, Sicoli was at it again, beating goalkeeper
Alex McLean between the legs in what would prove to be the game-winning goal.
Nazareth kept pushing until the end with Lucas Bennet generating a solid scoring chance with just over a minute to play that sailed wide of the net.
RIT struck first in the 28
th minute off a restart. Sicoli, who played a part in each goal, sent in a cross that bounced in front of the six yard box, allowing Scott Fishel to chest the
ball down and knock in a one-time shot.
Nazareth however had the Tigers on their heals late in the half. In the 36
th minute, Rodney lofted a beautiful ball into the box to find
Dylan Toscano for a trap and one-time left foot shot which was pushed aside by the RIT goalkeeper.
Nazareth finally broke through with just six second remaining in the half, as
Blake Owens rocketed a shot from 30-yards out over the RIT goalkeeper to knot the score at 1-1. Toscano was credited with the assist.
McLean made nine saves in net for the Golden Flyers.
Nazareth returns to action on Saturday for a 4 p.m. contest at Utica.
