Updated statsGENEVA, N.Y. – The Nazareth College field hockey squad faced a difficult non-conference matchup Tuesday night, falling 7-0 to nationally-ranked William Smith College.
With the win, the No. 8 Herons improve to 5-0 overall, while the Golden Flyers drop to 3-2.
Alessandra Patrizio notched a tally for William Smith early on in the contest, scoring on a tip-in goal. The home squad would add to its lead before the ten minute mark with a goal from Hannah Wood off of the penalty corner.
Patrizio was at it again later in the half, scoring another tally. William Smith led 5-0 at the half.
The Herons added two more goals in the second half to complete the scoring for the night.
Catherine Willard, the reigning Empire 8 Offensive Player of the Week, and
Cathy Stahl each registered a shot on goal in the game.
Lauren Devine played 24:37 in net, allowing three goals and making four saves.
Kimber Nourse closed out the rest of the contest, making nine saves.
Nazareth returns to action on Saturday when it will travel to Washington & Jefferson for a 1 p.m. contest.
