Tournament siteROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Nazareth split a pair of women's volleyball matches Saturday on the second day of competition at the Golden Flyer Invitational at the Kidera Gymnasium. The Golden Flyers topped Vassar in four sets by scores of 25-16, 25-18, 13-25, 25-20 and then dropped a wild five-setter to Medaille by scores of 25-19, 21-25, 25-17, 22-25, 16-14.

Kelsey Milligan represented the Golden Flyers on the all-tournament team as the Golden Flyers finished the tournament with a 3-1 record to improve to 5-3 overall. Brockport won all four of its matches to remain to claim the tournament title. The Golden Eagles are 10-0 overall.
Against Vassar, Messmer continued her strong play with a team-best 11 kills to go with four service aces and 10 digs. Senior
Jennifer Hicks added 10 kills and junior setter
Maureen Thayer delivered 35 assists.
Messmer and Hicks each had four kills as Nazareth dominated the first set, then Milligan had three of seven kills in the second set and junior
Rachel Williamson had three of Nazareth's eight service aces in the set.
After dropping the third set, Nazareth came back to take the fourth set behind four more kills from Messmer and four from freshman

Olivia Krick also produced six of her nine digs.
Against Medaille, Milligan posted a career-high 13 kills and six blocks, while Messmer and Hicks each totaled 11 kills. Krick had 17 digs and Cordero added 16. Thayer amassed 37 assists.
In the decisive fifth set, Nazareth trailed 6-3 before rallying to take a 12-11 lead after a kill by Cordero. The set was tied at 14 after a kill by Milligan, but the Mavericks secured the final two points -- both on kills by Lydia Penberthy, who led all attackers with 19 kills. Medaille setter Simmone Talford had 53 assists and was named to the all-tournament team along with teamate Susan Muldoon, who totaled 15 kills.
Nazareth is back in action Wednesday at home against Fredonia at 7 p.m.
