ROCHESTER N.Y. – The nationally-ranked Nazareth College women's soccer team registered its second consecutive shutout of the season, propelling to a 3-0 victory over visiting Geneseo Thursday night.

With the win, Nazareth, ranked 16th nationally by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, moves to 3-0-1 on the year, while Geneseo falls to 2-1.

After a slow offensive effort by both sides to start out the opening stanza, the Golden Flyers scored two goals in a seven minute span to open up the contest.  Nazareth got on the board in the 29th minute as Jessica Byrnes connected with Michaela Soules for the tally, her first of the season.

Soules was at it again shortly after finding Mary LoCicero. The freshman notched her second goal of the season off a shot that rocketed inside the crossbar to give the Golden Flyers a 2-0 lead.

Geneseo registered just three shots in the first half.

The visitors nearly drew to within one in the opening moments of the second half, however Katie Reilly cleared a shot off the line to keep a blank slate.

Nazareth added another insurance goal in the 55th minute.  Danielle Wilkin beat two defenders on the end line and played a cross to the six yard box where Courtney Malia cashed in.

Allison Dobles made two saves in net for the Golden Flyers.

Nazareth returns to action on Saturday when it will host Brockport at 12 p.m.
