Haley DeVona scored five goals and added two assists for visiting Nazareth Friday as the Golden Flyers defeated Elmira in an Empire 8 women's lacrosse game, 15-7, at Corning Community College.
Nazareth won for the third straight time to improve to 8-2 overall and 3-0 in conference games. Elmira remains winless at 0-8 and 0-5 in the Empire 8.

Kate Rothrock added one goal and three assists.
The Golden Flyers never trailed as early goals by DeVona and Rothrock helped establish control. DeVona had four of her goals in the first half as Nazareth led 11-3. Sullivan scored both of her goals in the first 30 minutes, including one on a free-position shot with just :12 left in the first half. Groot and Gates each scored in the first half as did freshman

Erin States getting her first career goal for the Golden Flyers. DeVona, Gates and Groot also scored.
Nazareth had a 31-22 edge in shots and a 22-20 advantage in ground balls. Gates had six ground balls for Nazareth and DeVona had five. Senior
Ashley Kirch played all 60 minutes in goal for Nazareth and made eight saves.
Nazareth plays a pair of conference road games next weekend. The Golden Flyers travel to Ithaca and Utica for 1 p.m. starts Saturday and Sunday respectively.
