Updated statsCLINTON, N.Y. -- Host Hamilton rallied from an early three-goal deficit and went on to defeat Nazareth in a non-conference men's lacrosse game, 10-9, at Steuben Field. Senior midfielder
Kyle Fanning scored three goals and added two assists for the 19th-ranked Golden Flyers, who dropped to 1-1 overall. Hamilton, which recorded its first victory over the Golden Flyers in three meetings, also is 1-1 overall.
Nazareth led 3-1 late in the first quarter and extended that advantage to 5-2 early in the second. The Continentals, however, answered with four straight goals to take their first lead at 6-5 late in the second quarter and the game was close the rest of the way.

Matt McDermott scored off an assist from Fanning with :13 left to tie the score at 6-6 by halftime. The Golden Flyers never regained the lead in the second half despite a sizeable advantage in shots. Nazareth outshot the Continentals 50-32 overall, including 27-14 in the second half. Nazareth was able to tie the score at 7-7 in the third quarter, then 8-8 in the fourth, before Hamilton scored twice in the fourth to take a 10-8 lead. Fanning scored his third goal of the game with :28 left to trim the lead to 10-9, but Hamilton controlled the ensuing faceoff and Nazareth was unable to generate another significant possession.

Drew Simoneau gave the Golden Flyers a 3-1 advantage. Hamilton's J.D. Brachman scored twice in the first quarter with the second goal coming with just :01 left to close the gap to 3-2.

Will Fallo just over a minute apart extended Nazareth's lead to 5-2. That's when Hamilton embarked on its four-goal flurry, which included a goal and two assists by Connor Morgan, to take the lead for the first time.
After McDermott's goal tied the score again, Hamilton scored twice in the third quarter, sandwiched around a goal by Fanning, to take an 8-7 lead into the final 15 minutes. Haefele's unassisted goal, his third of the game, with 13:08 left in the fourth tied the score for the final time at 8-8. Sam Sweet and Pat Donahoe then scored for Hamilton for a 10-8 lead.
Nazareth had seven shots after Hamilton scored its 10th goal -- three went wide and three others were saved by Hamilton goalie Will Driscoll, who finished with 19 stops overall. Sophomore
Michael Cuciti started goal for Nazareth in place of an injured
Scott Brown and finished with seven saves. Simoneau won 14 of 20 faceoffs and collected a game-high 11 ground balls.
Nazareth plays at home Saturday against St. Lawrence in a non-conference game at 12 p.m.
