BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Visiting Nazareth rallied from a two-set deficit Tuesday to defeat Medaille in a non-conference men's volleyball match. Nazareth won for the fifth straight time in five sets by scores of 15-25, 21-25, 25-23, 25-20, 15-8.

Junior Tim Zyburt totaled 16 kills as the seventh-ranked Golden Flyers improved to 24-4 overall. Nazareth closes out its regular-season schedule this weekend at Elmira Tournament. Nazareth has Friday matches against second-ranked UC Santa Cruz and D'Youville and a Saturday afternoon match against 10th-ranked Baruch. Medaille is 17-13.

With the match tied at two sets apiece, Nazareth never trailed in dominating the fifth set. The Golden Flyers jumped to a 3-0 lead on a kill by Zyburt, a block by Chris Mahan and a Medaille ball-handling error. Zyburt finished with four of his kills in the final set and Medaille self-destructed with five hitting errors.

Freshman Jake Kemp finished with 34 assists in the match and junior libero Cory Randolph totaled 12 digs.

Medaille hit .292 in the first set and .348 in the second to take a commanding lead.

Nazareth took control in the third set by taking a 15-7 lead, before Medaille rallied to make it close. A ball-handling error by Kemp enabled the Mavericks to close within 24-23 before Kemp set up Mahan for the set-clinching kill. Zyburt had four of Nazareth's 11 kills in the fourth set and the Golden Flyers had six blocks to square the match at two sets apiece. Nazareth was ahead by as much as 17-10 before the Mavericks closed to within 21-19 late in the set. Mahan had blocks on points 23 and 24 and Grant Levermore recorded a kill for the 25th point.

Levermore finished with nine kills, while Mahan and Josh Hieb each had six. David Hill and Nate Schneider had 12 and 11 kills respectively for Medaille. David Riggsby had 40 assists.
